Anxiously I chew down on my thumbnail while I watch Mason and one of his guys deep in conversation. I have no idea what it’s about, but it doesn’t look good. I really don’t need Mason to be in a bad mood tonight because what I really want is to have some fun and to forget about all my problems. I’m too stressed for more drama. I can’t handle it.

Oh fuck, and now they’re looking at me. They’re staring at me like I just yelled something shocking. Like I’m the one here causing trouble. Obviously, I’m not. I’m just standing here like an idiot, waiting for Mason to come back to me.

I’m a little intrigued by this friend of his, though. I don’t know anything about him, I haven’t met him before, but he’s smoking hot as well. Damn it, do they all have to be gorgeous? His deep brown eyes and a curious smile make my heart sing. I can feel the intensity in his eyes burning into me. It seems like he wants me from across the room as well. I can feel the desire absolutely dripping off him.

I have to admit, I wouldn’t mind if he crossed the room and swept me up in his arms. I’m sure he could distract me in the same way that Mason could too. Maybe in a different way, because he looks more sensual perhaps. Thrilling in a different way…

But I can’t look at him for too long because Mason is crossing the room now to come for me. His eyes are flaming with fire but not the passionate kind. He looks mad. I stiffen my spine and try to prepare myself for him to send me away. Clearly something else is going on, and Adam has been sent to bed drunk, so I really am alone.

“Come on,” Mason growls as he takes my hand. “We’re going to bed.”

Oh! What the fuck is happening? He doesn’t want to send me away after all. But I don’t know if going to his room is a wise choice when he’s clearly in a bad mood as well. Not that I’m given much choice. Mason is tugging me along and I’m going with him.

“I’m so stupid,” Mason mutters, almost as if he’s talking to himself. “I can’t believe I didn’t see it before. How did I manage to miss it…”

I don’t know what he’s talking about, and I also don’t know if he’s even talking to me. I part my lips, wondering what I should say, and if I should even say a thing. But I don’t manage to get any words out. I’m too confused about all of this. My brain is spinning, my head is scrambled and all over the place.

The mood isn’t what I wanted it to be when we get to his room. I was imagining a sexy and fun time, allowing me to step out of everything that’s been circling through me. I know it’s an issue, and me even being here with Mason after what he did is fucked up, but no one has to know about it.
